For retailers, maintaining a comfortable shopping environment is critical to the customer experience. When a major retailer began modernizing the HVAC / Mechanical infrastructure at its Boca Raton location, uninterrupted cooling during business hours was a firm requirement.

Having supported the retailer through ongoing service and maintenance for several years, Tropic-Kool Mechanical Services (Tropic-Kool), A Fidelity Company, understood those operational priorities before construction began. That familiarity allowed the team to develop a phased installation plan that minimized disruption while keeping the store comfortable and operational throughout the work.

Technical Depth & Excellence

The project included replacing and starting up 12 Trane rooftop units, retrofitting 91 VAV and FIT terminal units across two floors, and integrating the upgraded equipment into the existing energy management control system using BACnet controls and Air-Fi wireless communication interfaces.

When the replacement rooftop units arrived with cabinet dimensions that differed from the existing installations, Tropic-Kool's in-house sheet metal team and field electricians responded immediately, fabricating custom transitions and modifying the installation on-site so the project remained on schedule.

Consistent Execution & Responsiveness

Because rooftop work could only occur outside of business hours, the replacement was carefully phased across four overnight crane mobilizations. The disciplined planning allowed complex work to proceed efficiently while the store continued serving customers each day without interruption.
